Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Analyst to lead the design and development of a centralized Power BI Client Reporting Platform. This role will play a critical part in transforming and standardizing client reporting by consolidating legacy MI and analytics dashboards into a governed, scalable, and high-performance platform.
The successful candidate will combine deep banking domain expertise with advanced technical capabilities across data engineering, analytics, and visualization to drive data-driven decision-making and reporting excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Development & Transformation
- Lead the design and build of a centralized Power BI reporting platform to serve enterprise client analytics needs.
- Drive rationalization, consolidation, and decommissioning of existing MI reports and dashboards.
- Establish best practices, standards, and governance frameworks for Power BI development and usage.
- Design scalable, performant data models and semantic layers to support enterprise reporting.
Advanced Analytics & Reporting
- Develop advanced Power BI dashboards leveraging:
- Complex DAX calculations and measures
- Optimized data models and relationships
- Dynamic, user-centric visualizations
- Deliver high-impact analytical insights to stakeholders across business and leadership teams.
Data Engineering & Integration
- Extract, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources including:
- SQL-based platforms
- Hadoop ecosystems
- Denodo (data virtualization layer)
- Ensure high data quality, integrity, and performance in reporting outputs.
- Work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets in a banking environment.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Provide SME guidance on client reporting strategy and analytics transformation.
- Communicate insights and technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
Process Improvement & Governance
- Identify and eliminate redundant reporting processes.
- Implement governance controls to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and auditability.
- Support adoption of self-service BI within a controlled and standardized framework.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
- Advanced experience in:
- SQL (complex queries, performance tuning)
- Power BI (data modelling, DAX, dataflows, performance optimization)
- Denodo (data virtualization, integration)
- Hadoop ecosystem (Hive, HDFS, Spark – advantageous)
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, automation)
- VBA (automation and legacy reporting enhancements)
- Strong understanding of data warehouse concepts, ETL processes, and data architecture.
Banking Domain Knowledge
- Extensive experience in banking or financial services, ideally in:
- Client reporting / MIS / analytics
- Regulatory or management reporting environments
- Strong understanding of financial products, client metrics, and reporting requirements.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
- Ability to work with complex datasets and derive actionable insights.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on data quality and accuracy.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to drive change and influence stakeholders in a transformation environment.
- Strong leadership qualities with experience mentoring junior analysts.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certifications in Power BI, Data Analytics, or Cloud platforms are advantageous.
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
