Role
Role Overview
We're looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer to join the Consumer Products Squad (CPS), which sits within the Chief Data and AI Office (CDAIO). The squad builds internal tools and applications for the broader Data and AI team, with a focus on making those tools practical and straightforward to use. The role sits between users, product owners, and the UI/UX engineering team. You'll gather feedback, run research sessions, and make sure the team has a clear picture of user needs before work begins. At the same time, you'll own the design quality of our products, working toward consistent UI across applications and maintaining the design system. On the design side, the focus is on bringing consistency across our products. Several internal applications have grown independently over time, and part of this role involves identifying what's inconsistent or broken from a UX perspective and working toward a shared design language. We're currently in the process of building a unified product experience across our tools, and this person will be an active contributor to that effort.

Key Responsibilities
• User Research and Discovery: You'll spend meaningful time understanding who uses our tools and how. That means facilitating interviews and usability sessions, gathering feedback from stakeholders, and making sense of what you find. The goal is to make sure the engineering team always has a clear picture of the problem before they start building.
• UX Strategy and Experience Design: Beyond individual screens, you'll think about flows, information architecture, and how users move through our products. You'll identify friction points, propose improvements, and help shape how features are scoped from a user experience perspective.
• UI Design and Consistency: You'll evaluate our existing interfaces, spot inconsistencies, and work toward a unified visual and interaction language across our applications. You'll contribute to and maintain a shared design system that the team can rely on.
• Working with the Team: You'll be the go-to person connecting product owners and business stakeholders with the UI/UX engineering team. That means translating research and requirements into well-documented design specs, communicating design decisions clearly to people with different backgrounds, and making sure everyone is aligned before work begins.
• Keeping Things Moving Forward: You'll track UX metrics to understand whether changes are making things better, and you'll help foster a culture where user needs stay front and center even in a technically focused environment.
Skills
• UX/UI Design Expertise: 5+ years of experience designing for complex internal and enterprise applications, balancing strong visual design with practical usability and business needs.
• Prototyping & Wireframing: Advanced proficiency in Figma, creating wireframes, components, and interactive prototypes to efficiently translate ideas into testable design solutions.
• UX Best Practices: Strong understanding of user-centred design, information architecture, and interaction patterns, with the ability to apply consistent design principles across products.
• User Research & Feedback: Experienced in conducting user research, usability testing, and feedback analysis, turning insights into actionable design improvements.
• Design Systems: Hands-on experience building and contributing to design systems, ensuring scalability, consistency, and reuse of components and patterns.
• Collaboration & Communication: Skilled in facilitating workshops, presenting design rationale, and aligning stakeholders across cross-functional teams.
• Technical Collaboration: Comfortable working with engineers, participating in technical discussions, and producing clear design specifications that support implementation.
• Accessibility: Solid knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and ability to apply inclusive design principles in real-world solutions.
• Data-Heavy Interfaces (Nice-to-have): Experience designing dashboards, analytics tools, or AI-driven interfaces with a focus on clarity and usability.
• Front-End Engineering Awareness (Nice-to-have): Familiarity with front-end development engineering and frameworks such as Angular, enabling more feasible and efficient design decisions.
• Enterprise Experience (Nice-to-have): Background in designing internal tools or enterprise systems, understanding their complexity and scalability requirements.
• Figma AI & other AI tooling (Nice-to-have): Familiar with using Figma AI and other AI tooling to enhance workflow efficiency, ideation, and collaboration.
