Role Overview
A Credit Card Sales Consultant is responsible for acquiring new customers and driving credit card sales through direct engagement, lead generation, and relationship building. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, promoting suitable financial products, and ensuring compliance with credit and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Promote and sell credit card products to new and existing customers
- Identify sales opportunities through leads, referrals, and walk-in clients
- Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets
- Cross-sell additional banking products where appropriate
Customer Engagement
- Engage customers in-branch, telephonically, or through field sales
- Understand customer needs and recommend suitable credit card options
- Educate customers on product features, benefits, fees, and terms
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
Application & Onboarding
- Assist customers with completing credit card applications
- Collect and verify required documentation (ID, income proof, etc.)
- Ensure accurate capturing of customer information
- Follow up on application status and communicate outcomes
Compliance & Risk
- Ensure all sales comply with regulatory and internal policies
- Conduct affordability and eligibility checks
- Prevent fraudulent applications and maintain data integrity
- Adhere to responsible lending practices
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities and pipelines
- Update CRM systems with customer interactions
- Prepare daily/weekly sales reports
- Track personal performance against targets

Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12 (required)
- Diploma or degree in Business, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- Relevant regulatory certification (e.g., FAIS RE5 in South Africa, if applicable)
Experience
- 1–3 years in sales (preferably in banking, retail, or financial services)
- Experience in credit card or unsecured lending sales (advantageous)
- Experience working in a target-driven environment
