Role
Role Overview
A Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating Agile delivery by guiding teams in Scrum practices, removing impediments, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role acts as a servant leader, ensuring the team operates effectively, delivers value consistently, and adheres to Agile principles.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Facilitation
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives)
- Ensure adherence to Scrum principles and Agile best practices
- Guide the team in self-organization and cross-functionality
- Promote continuous improvement through regular retrospectives
Team Support & Coaching
- Act as a servant leader to the development team
- Coach team members on Agile mindset and practices
- Support Product Owners in backlog refinement and prioritization
- Help new team members integrate into Agile workflows
Impediment Removal
- Identify and remove blockers impacting team progress
- Escalate issues that cannot be resolved at team level
- Shield the team from external distractions and scope creep
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Facilitate collaboration between the team and stakeholders
- Ensure transparency in progress, risks, and delivery outcomes
- Help manage stakeholder expectations in an Agile environment
Delivery & Performance Tracking
- Track team performance using Agile metrics (velocity, burndown charts, cycle time)
- Ensure predictable delivery of increments each sprint
- Support continuous delivery and DevOps practices where applicable
Agile Governance & Improvement
- Promote Agile maturity within the team and organization
- Contribute to scaling Agile practices (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Nexus)
- Encourage experimentation and innovation
Required Skills & Experience
Agile & Scrum Expertise
- Strong understanding of Scrum framework and Agile principles
- Experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies
- Familiarity with scaling frameworks (e.g., SAFe) is advantageous
Tools & Practices
- Experience with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Trello)
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices (beneficial)

- Strong facilitation and coaching skills
- Ability to resolve conflicts and foster collaboration

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or related field (preferred)
- Scrum certification (required/preferred):
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM I/II)
Experience
- 3–6 years of experience in Agile environments
- 2–4 years as a Scrum Master or similar role
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
