Role Overview
An Intermediate Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering projects within scope, budget, and timeline. This role manages day-to-day project activities, coordinates cross-functional teams, and ensures alignment between stakeholders and delivery teams. They typically handle moderately complex projects with some level of autonomy while escalating higher-risk issues when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Initiation
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations
- Identify dependencies, risks, and constraints
- Assist in business case development and project estimation
Project Execution
- Manage end-to-end project delivery across multiple teams
- Track progress against milestones and adjust plans as needed
- Coordinate internal and external resources
- Ensure deliverables meet quality standards
Stakeholder Management
- Communicate project status, risks, and updates to stakeholders
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and status reviews
- Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts
- Collaborate with business, technical, and vendor teams
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks
- Implement mitigation and contingency plans
- Escalate critical issues appropriately
- Maintain risk and issue logs
Budget & Resource Management
- Track project budgets and manage costs
- Ensure optimal use of resources
- Monitor vendor performance and contracts (if applicable)
Governance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)
- Maintain project documentation and reporting
- Provide regular status reports and performance metrics
- Support audits and compliance requirements
Required Skills & Experience
Project Management Skills
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
- Experience with project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana)
- Ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously
- Solid understanding of project lifecycle management
Technical & Business Understanding
- Basic understanding of IT systems, software development, or digital projects
- Ability to translate business requirements into project plans
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
