Lead Data Engineer

Lead the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of scalable, reusable, and testable technology and data solutions that address complex business challenges. Bridge business needs and technology capabilities by translating strategic requirements into innovative, data-driven solutions that create measurable business value.

 

Solution Design & Technology Leadership

•                     Lead the analysis of customer requirements and business capabilities to define and frame complex business problems.

•                     Design and evolve scalable, reusable, and testable technology solutions aligned to business objectives.

•                     Apply design-thinking methodologies to develop solution blueprints, target architectures, and strategic roadmaps.

•                     Synthesize business, technical, and stakeholder requirements into fit-for-purpose solution designs.

 

•                     Build strong relationships across business and technology teams.

•                     Leverage commercial, business, emotional, and social intelligence to understand and balance diverse stakeholder perspectives.

•                     Facilitate negotiation and alignment across complex stakeholder groups to achieve optimal business outcomes.

•                     Partner closely with delivery teams to ensure solutions meet both strategic and operational requirements.

 

•                     Translate business questions into comprehensive data, analytics, and reporting requirements.

•                     Design and oversee advanced analytical solutions, including predictive models, machine learning capabilities, recommendation engines, dashboards, and reporting tools.

•                     Evaluate new data sources and data collection methodologies to improve organisational insights and decision-making.

•                     Present trends, forecasts, insights, and recommendations through compelling storytelling and data visualisation.

•                     Establish and maintain robust data quality and analytical assurance frameworks.

•                     Monitor model performance, analytical integrity, and solution effectiveness throughout the solution lifecycle.

•                     Drive peer reviews and incorporate feedback to continuously improve analytical outputs and solution quality.

•                     Promote reusability and standardisation through scalable dashboards, reports, and analytical assets.

•                     Apply appropriate technologies and platforms, including Python, Java, Scala, Hadoop, Apache Spark, Kafka, and emerging capabilities where relevant.

•                     Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and leading practices in data science, analytics, and digital transformation.

•                     Contribute to the organisation's advancement towards data-driven decision making and advanced optimisation capabilities.

 

•                     Identify, assess, mitigate, and manage solution and data-related risks across the full delivery lifecycle.

•                     Support governance forums through the preparation of business cases, technical specifications, and solution documentation.

•                     Ensure compliance with regulatory, risk, security, and data governance requirements.

•                     Provide subject matter expertise to support audit, compliance, and risk management activities.

DevOps Leadership & People Management

•                     Lead and manage a high-performing DevOps team.

•                     Establish engineering practices that support reliable, secure, and efficient software delivery.

•                     Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, and professional development support to team members.

•                     Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
