Role
Job Purpose
The Digital Forensic Consultant is responsible for conducting digital forensic investigations, fraud examinations, forensic technology engagements, and litigation support services for clients. The role combines technical investigative expertise with consulting and advisory responsibilities within a forensic audit and risk management environment.
The incumbent will lead and support investigations involving fraud, corruption, financial misconduct, cyber incidents, regulatory breaches, employee misconduct, and litigation matters by identifying, preserving, analyzing, and reporting on digital evidence. Working closely with forensic auditors, legal counsel, cyber security professionals, and client stakeholders, the Digital Forensic Consultant will deliver defensible findings that support informed decision-making, regulatory compliance, and legal proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Forensic Investigations
- Conduct forensic investigations involving computers, mobile devices, cloud environments, email systems, and network infrastructure.
- Acquire, preserve, and analyse digital evidence in accordance with forensic and legal best practices.
- Maintain chain-of-custody documentation and evidence integrity.
- Recover deleted, hidden, encrypted, or altered data.
- Perform timeline analysis, user activity reconstruction, and digital artefact analysis.
- Support investigations relating to insider threats, data theft, misconduct, and cyber incidents.
Fraud and Forensic Investigations
- Support and conduct investigations involving:
- Fraud
- Corruption
- Bribery
- Asset misappropriation
- Procurement irregularities
- Financial misconduct
- Regulatory breaches
- Correlate digital evidence with financial and audit findings.
- Identify patterns and indicators of fraudulent activity using forensic technology and analytics.
Litigation and eDiscovery Support
- Conduct forensic data collections and electronic evidence reviews.
- Support legal and regulatory investigations.
- Manage eDiscovery processes and forensic data preservation.
- Assist with the preparation of evidence for legal proceedings.
- Support expert witness engagements and legal teams with technical findings.
Advisory and Client Consulting
- Advise clients on forensic readiness, evidence preservation, and investigative approaches.
- Support forensic risk assessments and fraud risk management initiatives.
- Present findings and recommendations to client management and stakeholders.
- Contribute to business development opportunities within the forensic practice.
Reporting and Communication
- Prepare clear, concise, and defensible forensic investigation reports.
- Present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop recommendations for remediation, risk mitigation, and control improvements.
Minimum Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor's Degree in:

Experience
Essential
- 5-7 years' experience in digital forensic investigations.
- Experience conducting corporate investigations and evidence analysis.
- Experience within:

- Cyber forensic consultancies
- Regulatory or law enforcement investigation environments
Highly Desirable
- Previous Big Four or professional services experience.
- Experience supporting forensic audit engagements.
- Experience in fraud and financial crime investigations.
- Experience with eDiscovery and litigation support matters.
