Role
Job Purpose
The Learning Specialist is responsible for the administration, coordination, reporting, and presentation of Learning and Development initiatives, including bursaries, learnerships, and skills development programmes. The role supports the organisation's talent development objectives by ensuring the effective management of learning programmes, compliance requirements, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of insightful reporting and presentations in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Key Responsibilities
Learning Administration & Programme Coordination
- Administer and coordinate learning and development programmes, including bursaries, learnerships, internships, and skills development initiatives.
- Manage programme enrolments, learner registrations, attendance records, assessments, and completion documentation.
- Maintain accurate learner records and ensure all learning-related documentation is up to date and compliant.
- Liaise with training providers, educational institutions, learners, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless programme delivery.
- Monitor learner progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Skills Development & Compliance
- Support the implementation and execution of the organisation's skills development strategy.
- Coordinate learning interventions in alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Skills Development legislation, SETA requirements, and internal governance processes.
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for audits and regulatory reporting.
Reporting & Data Analysis
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed learning and development reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Create and manage reporting dashboards, trackers, pivot tables, and data analysis reports to monitor programme performance.
- Analyse learning data, learner progress, completion rates, and training effectiveness.
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports for management and key stakeholders.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data analysis and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
Presentation Development & Delivery
- Develop professional and visually impactful presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Prepare executive reports, learning programme updates, skills development progress reports, and business presentations.
- Present learning and development metrics, programme outcomes, and project updates to management and stakeholders.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and learning-related presentations as required.
- Communicate complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a key point of contact for learning and development initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to employees regarding learning opportunities, bursaries, learnerships, and skills development programmes.
- Collaborate with business units to identify learning needs and support workforce development objectives.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
- 3-5 years' experience in Learning & Development, Skills Development, Training Administration, or a Learning Specialist role.
- Demonstrated experience managing bursaries, learnerships, and skills development programmes.
- Experience within the banking or financial services industry is preferred.
- Experience preparing management reports and presenting information to senior stakeholders.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Pivot Tables

- Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint skills, including executive-level presentation development.
- Excellent written and verbal Business English communication skills.

Working Environment
- Fast-paced, high-demand environment with multiple competing priorities.
- Hybrid working model with attendance in the office required 3 days per week.
- Regular interaction with senior stakeholders, training providers, educational institutions, and learners.
Preferred Experience
- Banking or financial services industry experience.
- Knowledge of South African Skills Development legislation, SETA processes, and B-BBEE Skills Development requirements.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and learning administration platforms.
- Proven track record of producing management reporting and delivering presentations to executive audiences.
