Job Summary
We are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Business Analyst with strong experience in Card Payments and Card Issuing within a banking environment.
The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of the full card lifecycle, from product setup to transaction processing, settlement, and customer servicing. This role requires experience delivering card and payment solutions across African markets, working within different regulatory and banking environments.
The successful candidate will work closely with business, product, operations, and technology teams to define requirements, improve processes, and support the delivery of scalable and compliant card solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business analysis activities for card payments and issuing initiatives within banking environments
- Support the design and enhancement of:
- Credit, debit, prepaid, and virtual card products
- Card product configuration and lifecycle management
- Transaction processing (POS, ATM, online, contactless)
- Document and analyse end-to-end payment processes, including local and cross-border transactions
- Work closely with card processors, payment partners, and internal teams to define and clarify requirements
- Prepare clear documentation such as:
- Business requirement document
- Functional specifications
- Process flows
- User stories
- Support system integrations between card platforms, core banking systems, and digital banking channels
- Conduct impact analysis for product changes, regulatory updates, and system enhancements
- Support testing activities (UAT), including coordination with business users and issue resolution
- Ensure solutions comply with banking regulations, card scheme rules, and data security standards
- Participate in Agile or hybrid project delivery environments
Required Skills & Experience
- 8–15 years of Business Analysis experience in Banking or Financial Services
- Strong hands-on experience in Card Payments and Card Issuing within a bank
- Proven experience working across African countries or multi-country banking environments
- Good understanding of:
- End-to-end card transaction lifecycle
- Card product setup and management
- Payment processing and settlement
- Disputes and reconciliation processes
- Cross-border payment environments
- Experience working with:
· REST/SOAP APIs
- Card processors and payment partners
- Core banking systems
- Digital banking platforms (mobile and internet banking)
- Experience supporting
- New product launches
- Regulatory or compliance-driven changes
- Card system upgrades or migrations
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to independently run workshops and gather requirements
Beneficial
- Exposure to multi-country rollouts in East, West, or Southern Africa
- Experience working with regional payment networks or switches
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
- Relevant Business Analysis or Agile certifications are an advantage
